Our Volunteers
This group serves as an informal board to periodically meet to discuss and review content, edit, consider new proposals, and review site policies. We intend to expand this group as word of the ALS/MND Deliberative spreads. As of mid-2024, the core group includes:
KEN MENKHAUS
Ken is a co-founder of the group, and is serving as the initial manager of the website. He was diagnosed with ALS/MND in 2018. He continues to work full-time as a professor of political science at Davidson College, in Charlotte NC. He has over 35 years of experience in policy analysis, mostly in the fields of international development and conflict analysis, focused mainly in and on the Horn of Africa. He served as Special Political Advisor in the UN Operation in Somalia (1993-94), and has consulted for the World Bank, UN, US government, and international NGOs. Ken served on the ALS Association Board of Trustees from 2020-2023 and has participated in working groups and committees for a range of other ALS organizations. Finances
We currently have no expenses beyond what we pay out of pocket for the website domain, and hence no budget and no 990 form. If that changes, we will be fully transparent about where funds come from and how they are spent.
